I went to the Sarasota Boys & Girls Club 2012 Designer Showcase House this past week. It was interesting to see all the color trends that are out in textiles and to translate them into my acrylic art pieces. The custom art pieces I did for Holly Dennis Designs looked great hanging in the guest bedroom!

Another great day of painting at the Sarasota Art Center. Learning such new and interesting things…Like painting straight out of the tube of acrylic paint and using tin foil to create spider like lines with the paint onto the canvas.
Today was an exciting day in the art class I am taking from Fernando Madridejos at Sarasota Center for the Arts. He showed the class a wonderful technique using Tube Acrylic paints. I took the tube of paint and squirted it on the canvas and then used a wet paper towel to move and blend the paint together. It gives a wonderful soft look to a piece of art. Picture coming in a week or two!
I had the second art class a couple days ago and learned a few new techniques like using rubber cement and candle wax in the art piece. Tried out the wax idea yesterday on an ongoing acrylic painting with much success! Will post when the painting is done. Website looking good moving on to Face book today!
Just finished my first day at a new art class on Mixed Media and Abstract Art. I worked on four new acrylic paintings. I can’t wait to see the finished pieces. One is a city scene and another is a time piece. The picture is of me at work on a couple of abstract art pieces.
Just finished a wonderful acrylic painting. Love working with the rectangle format. the art piece is so happy and bright it reminds me of the sunshine on the beach!
I am so excited to try new mix media techniques that I leaned this week at an art seminar. Going to try new textures and new color combination’s on rectangle gallery wrapped canvas. Using geometric shapes with organic shapes will add interest to the piece. Can’t wait to get started!
I spent most of my morning worrying over how I was ever going to blog and what is blogging??? I didn’t even have time to paint. As soon as this blog is over I am going to the beach to read up on new painting techniques so I can try them out tomorrow when I start a new canvas.
